How your final price is set

Priced on hanging (carcass) weight: $6.75/lb grass-fed, quarters $7.00/lb. Carcasses typically run 600–700 lbs, so your exact balance is set when your animal is weighed at the butcher. Butcher processing is separate — see costs below.

One more cost, paid separately

Butcher processing is billed separately by the butcher — not by the ranch and not by BuyHalfCow. Budget roughly $400–$500 on a half share (less for a quarter, more for a whole). You pay it directly to the butcher when you pick up your beef.

You pay this directly to the third party who does that work — it is not part of your deposit or the balance you pay the ranch.

How this works

Reserve your share with a deposit — that holds an animal from the current herd.
The ranch calls you (about 30 minutes) to walk you through your cut sheet, so you get exactly the steaks, roasts, and ground you want.
When your animal is ready, the ranch transports it to a USDA butcher in Arizona.
The butcher dry-ages the beef at least 14 days, then cuts and wraps it to your sheet.
You pay the ranch the balance of your share price.
You pay the butcher their processing fee directly when you pick up.
You collect your beef at the butcher — expect roughly 60% of the carcass weight in wrapped, frozen meat.

Meet Gila River Cattle

A family farm near Duncan, Arizona, raising cattle since 2014 with no chemicals, no hormones, and no antibiotics. Their herd grazes wide-open pastures on grasses chosen for the health of the animals and the flavor of the beef. Everything here revolves around meat quality: tenderness, texture, and taste. Cattle are harvested between 12 and 18 months and dry-aged at least 14 days before cutting.
